Why should you hire the Sony VENICE?

The Sony VENICE is a high-end digital cinema camera, offering a number of interesting features and capabilities for DPs and Cinematographers. You will need to rent the RAW Recorder along with the VENICE .

There are several significant differences between the Sony VENICE and the Sony VENICE 2, which may help you decide to rent one over the other:

• Although the VENICE 2 has an 8K sensor block, it can be adapted to a full frame 6K sensor block.
• With 8 stops of internal ND filters, the camera is a ‘game-changer’ offering speedy adjustments to a wide variety of setups.
• Both cameras feature Sony’s new S-Cinetone colour science.
• The full-frame sensor in the VENICE 2 features a full-frame 36x24mm sensor (including FF, Anamorphic and High-Speed performances), which allows for stunning image quality with a shallow depth of field, as well as excellent low-light performance.
• The VENICE boasts a dynamic range of 15+ stops of latitude, which allows for capturing detail in both the brightest highlights and darkest shadows.

The Sony VENICE Rialto Extension system allows you to separate the sensor and lens mount from the main body via a tethered cable, making it great for specialist rigs, such as gimbals and car mounts without any loss in quality over the standard all-in-one setup. Cinematographer Claudio Miranda made use of the Rialto system to film portions of the hit movie Top Gun: Maverick. According to an interview with the movie’s cinematographer, he said the Rialto module was particularly useful in allowing the crew to mount the camera in tight spaces inside the cockpit of the fighter jets, while still being able to maintain a high level of image quality. The Rialto system also allowed for the use of smaller and lighter lenses, which helped to reduce the overall weight of the camera rig and make it more maneuverable during fast-paced aerial sequences.
